The birth of Bodhi

I promised I wouldn’t panic if I went to 42 weeks, I promised I wouldn’t let the fear of others pressure me into rushing the arrival of my baby. As 42 weeks loomed, I began to freak out. My patience was running thin and I wanted to meet my baby more than anything, I was also so done with being pregnant. I had felt ready to give birth at about 30 weeks.

The Birth of Ivy

At 2pm, I was checked again and had made it to 8cm dilated so didn’t need the hormone drip in the end! I really do think that the epidural helped my body to relax and dilate and was so grateful to my partner and the team of midwives for supporting my decision for this.

Although I didn’t get the unmediated water birth that I wanted, I was so happy with my birth and really would say that it was a positive experience. I would do it all again in a heartbeat for our darling girl Ivy.

The Birth of Jude

May 21, 2022

Once the pool became warm enough, I moved back downstairs to complete the last stages of our labor journey in the water. Hugging my husband over the side of the pool and listening to my mediation music in candle light, whilst my body brought baby Jude into the world at 7.25pm. I lifted him out of the water with my own hands and Adam cut the cord that had connected us for the past 9 months.
Our new family hugged it out on our sofa whilst mine and Adams mums made us tea and talked us through our very first (first of many) nappy changes - Complete Bliss!
